Honoring Our Heroes: Veterans Week in Mooresville & Our Live Broadcast from Richard’s Coffee Shop

This week, Lake Norman paused to remember what truly matters.

We had the privilege of broadcasting Good Morning LKN live from Richard’s Coffee Shop — a place that isn’t just a coffee shop, but a living memorial, a community hub, and a home base for veterans in Mooresville. Standing alongside service members, veterans, their families, and neighbors during the POW/MIA Memorial Walk was a moment that grounded us, humbled us, and reminded us that freedom is never free.

It was an honor to spend the morning with the incredible heroes who have worn the uniform, and with a community that continues to show up for them — not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

As we move through Veterans Week, we encourage you to take part in the moments that matter. Support. Remember. Stand with those who served and for those who never made it home.

To all veterans and military families in our community:
We see you. We honor you. We are grateful.

Why It Matters

Mooresville and Lake Norman don’t just celebrate veterans — we embrace and uplift them. From long-standing traditions like the parade to heartfelt gatherings at Richard’s Coffee Shop, this community leads with gratitude and action.

Whether you attend, volunteer, donate, or simply stop a veteran to say “thank you,” your presence makes a difference.

This week — and always — may we remember the courage, sacrifice, and families behind every flag, every salute, and every moment of freedom we enjoy.
