Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department Hosts BBQ Chicken Fundraiser Near Lake Norman

Community members across the greater Lake Norman region are invited to support local first responders at an upcoming BBQ fundraiser hosted by the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department.

The department will hold its annual BBQ Chicken Fundraiser on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The drive-thru event begins at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until all meals are sold out. It will take place at Station 1, located at 501 Ruritan Park Road in Stony Point.

Each meal plate costs $10 and includes BBQ chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, a roll, and dessert. Organizers say the drive-thru format makes it easy for community members to pick up a meal while supporting a local cause.

Fundraisers like this are a longtime tradition for volunteer fire departments throughout North Carolina. They provide a way for residents to connect with local firefighters while helping raise funds for equipment, operations, and community safety initiatives.

While Stony Point sits just north of the Lake Norman area, events like this often draw support from residents across Iredell and Alexander counties. Many people from nearby communities such as Mooresville, Troutman, and Statesville regularly attend similar local events to support volunteer fire departments and other public safety organizations.

In addition to serving meals, the fundraiser is also an opportunity for the community to show appreciation for the firefighters who respond to emergencies, protect homes, and provide critical services throughout the year.

Local volunteer fire departments rely heavily on community involvement to sustain their operations. Events like the BBQ fundraiser not only raise important funds but also strengthen the relationship between firefighters and the communities they serve.

Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early, as the event will continue only until meals are sold out. Updates and additional information about the fundraiser may also be shared through the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary’s Facebook page.

For residents who enjoy supporting local causes while enjoying a classic barbecue meal, the fundraiser is one of the upcoming community events worth adding to the Lake Norman calendar this spring.
