One of the region’s most anticipated food events is returning this spring, and it’s just a short drive from Lake Norman. The Carolina BBQ Festival takes place April 17–18, 2026 at Victoria Yards in Uptown Charlotte, bringing together some of the best pitmasters, chefs, and barbecue traditions from across the Carolinas and beyond.
Now in its fifth year, the festival celebrates the heritage of whole hog BBQ while expanding to include a wide range of flavors and techniques. With more than 30 pitmasters and chefs participating, guests can expect a full weekend of tastings, live entertainment, and community-driven experiences.
The weekend begins Friday, April 17 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM with The Kickoff. This opening night focuses on Charlotte’s local BBQ scene, featuring tastings from 5+ area pitmasters and chefs, along with live music and a DJ. It also offers a unique behind-the-scenes look as pits are set up in preparation for the main festival day.
Saturday, April 18 is the full festival experience. General admission begins at 12:00 PM, with VIP entry starting at 11:00 AM for early access. Guests will have the opportunity to sample tasting plates from 25 pitmaster stations, featuring everything from traditional whole hog and brisket to chicken, seafood, and regional specialties like hash and rice. In addition to the food, the event includes local vendors, sponsor activations, and a variety of beverages available for purchase.
A standout feature of the festival is the on-site brick pit, which highlights the history and craftsmanship behind whole hog cooking. Throughout the day, live music and entertainment add to the atmosphere, creating an experience that goes beyond just food.
The Carolina BBQ Festival also supports Operation BBQ Relief, with raffle opportunities and community engagement woven into the weekend. As part of Charlotte Shout, the event contributes to a larger celebration of arts, culture, and community across the city.
Ticket options include The Kickoff on Friday, General Admission for Saturday, and a VIP experience that includes early entry, access to a VIP area with oysters and champagne, and a merchandise voucher. Kids tickets are available, and children six and under can attend for free with a reserved ticket.
For Lake Norman residents, this event offers an easy and worthwhile trip for a weekend centered around food, music, and connection. Whether you’re planning a night out or a full day experience, it’s one of the standout events of the spring season.
