Ada Jenkins Center to Host Free Juneteenth Community Celebration in Davidson

The Ada Jenkins Center will once again bring the community together for its annual Juneteenth Celebration, returning on Friday, June 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at its campus located at 212 Gamble Street in Davidson.

Now in its sixth year, the free community event continues to grow, expanding across the entire Ada Jenkins Center campus while offering an evening focused on culture, history, education, and connection. Residents from across the Lake Norman area are invited to attend and participate in a celebration that honors the significance of Juneteenth while highlighting local organizations, businesses, and community resources.

The event will feature local vendors with a special focus on Black-owned businesses, providing attendees an opportunity to support entrepreneurs and learn more about services available throughout the region. Community organizations and businesses will also be on-site sharing information and resources.

Guests can enjoy live musical performances and a narrated program exploring the history and cultural importance of Juneteenth. Family-friendly activities will be available throughout the evening, including a dedicated Kids Zone and opportunities to connect with neighbors from across the community.

Health and wellness will also be part of the celebration. Novant Health’s Community Care Cruiser will provide free health screenings for attendees, helping make important health resources more accessible to local families.

Food and desserts will be available during the event, and Ada Jenkins Center will provide a free meal to the first 300 attendees. Admission is free, and all community members are welcome to participate.

The annual Juneteenth Celebration has become one of the area’s meaningful community events, bringing together residents of all backgrounds to recognize freedom, heritage, and the shared values that strengthen the Lake Norman community. Organizers encourage families, friends, and neighbors to attend for an evening of learning, celebration, and connection.
