Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County (HPCIC) is proud to have received the Hospice Honors Elite recognition for 2026. This marks the 9th time the organization has received this top level of recognition. Results are based on performance in the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Hospice Survey.
This recognition reflects the dedication of HPCIC’s staff and volunteers and their ongoing commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients and families throughout the community.
The Hospice CAHPS Honors program recognizes hospice agencies that score above the MatrixCare National Performance Score on at least 20 of the questions evaluated through the CAHPS Hospice Survey. The surveys are completed by family members and caregivers of hospice patients and evaluate important areas of the hospice experience, including communication with families, timely assistance, respectful treatment of patients, help with pain and symptoms, and overall quality of care.
Hospice Honors Elite is a special distinction awarded to hospice organizations that score above the MatrixCare National Performance Score on 100% of the 24 evaluated questions.
HPCIC is honored to receive this prestigious recognition, which demonstrates the organization’s commitment to delivering extraordinary care to every patient and family it serves.
In an email to staff, HPCIC President and CEO Mike Smith shared what the recognition means to the organization. “High-quality care is hands down our most important job,” Smith said. “This is the biggest indicator of mission fulfillment, and it stems from the work and care each of you bring every day!”
HPCIC is especially proud to be one of only nine hospice agencies in North Carolina to receive the Hospice Honors Elite recognition in 2026.
This achievement would not be possible without the compassion, professionalism and dedication of HPCIC’s employees and volunteers. Their commitment to patients and families remains at the heart of the organization’s mission and continues to make a meaningful difference in the communities HPCIC serves.
