Sports fans with a talent for broadcasting and storytelling have a new opportunity to get behind the mic and into the action around Lake Norman.

WSIC News is hiring a part-time Sports Show Host & Reporter to help lead its local sports coverage across radio, digital and social media, with a strong focus on high school and college athletics throughout Lake Norman and the greater Charlotte area.

The position includes hosting a one-hour local sports show each week, developing topics and interviews, and talking with athletes, coaches, athletic directors and other sports leaders. The host will also provide sports updates and commentary across other WSIC programming as needed.

Away from the studio, the role involves attending high school and college games, tournaments, practices, press conferences and other sporting events. Coverage will range from local football, basketball, baseball, soccer and other school sports to area college athletics and professional teams and events.

As Lake Norman’s radio home for the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte FC and the NASCAR Cup Series, WSIC already has a strong connection to regional sports. The new position will help expand that coverage by putting an additional spotlight on the local athletes, teams, coaches and programs that are part of the Lake Norman community.

The role also extends beyond traditional radio. The Sports Show Host & Reporter will create social media coverage, short-form video recaps, interviews, highlights and other digital content from games and events.

Previous experience in sports broadcasting, journalism, radio, television, podcasting or digital content creation is preferred, but WSIC is also open to emerging talent with a strong portfolio, on-air presence and passion for sports media. College students and recent graduates pursuing sports media, journalism, broadcasting, communications or athletic communications are encouraged to apply.

The position is approximately 10–15 hours per week, with hourly pay based on experience. Evening and weekend availability will be required for some game and event coverage.
