Mooresville will come together on September 11 to mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with a morning of remembrance, reflection and tribute.

The Town of Mooresville, Exchange Club of Mooresville – Lake Norman, and Richard’s Coffee Shop are hosting the community observance on Friday, September 11, beginning with a Silent Remembrance Walk to Liberty Park at 8:46 a.m. A 25th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony will follow at the park at 9 a.m.

The milestone observance will honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, recognize those who answered the call to serve and reflect on the resilience and unity that followed.

The memorial ceremony will include remarks from FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Kevin Swanson, who will reflect on September 11 and its lasting impact on those who serve. Bob Hogan, President and CEO of Clermont Trust, USA, LLC, will also share remarks and reflections.

Music will be part of the morning’s tribute, with a special performance by Anthony Kearns of the Irish Tenors. Students from Mooresville Graded School District and Iredell-Statesville Schools will also participate through musical performances and essay readings.

The program will include additional patriotic tributes and moments of reflection, giving the Mooresville and greater Lake Norman community an opportunity to gather together on the anniversary.

Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to return to Richard’s Coffee Shop for brunch and continued fellowship.

The Silent Remembrance Walk begins at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The memorial ceremony begins at Liberty Park at 9 a.m.
