2nd Annual Charity Cars & Coffee in Statesville to Support Student Aviation Club

Car enthusiasts and families across the Lake Norman and Statesville area have a chance to enjoy a morning of cars, coffee and community support at the 2nd Annual Charity Cars & Coffee on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The FREE event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon in the back parking lot of Mitchell Community College’s Statesville Campus, located at 500 West Broad Street.

Organized to benefit the Collaborative College for Technology and Leadership (CCTL) Early College Aviation Club, the event welcomes vehicles of all makes, models and years. Donations are encouraged, with proceeds helping students continue their aviation and rocketry projects.

A Car Show Supporting Future Aviation Leaders

More than a community car show, Charity Cars & Coffee serves as a major fundraiser for the CCTL Aviation Club, helping students purchase rocket motors and other materials needed for their projects and competitions.

The club has already achieved national recognition. Last spring, CCTL students competed in the American Rocketry Challenge, finishing 13th in the nation.

The competition challenges students to apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills by designing, building and launching model rockets.

For participating students, the experience provides hands-on opportunities to develop engineering, problem-solving and teamwork skills while exploring potential careers in aviation and aerospace.

“The students have worked incredibly hard to get to this level, and competing at the national finals was an incredible accomplishment,” said Aviation Club advisor Dana Gibson. “This fundraiser gives our community a chance to get behind them and help provide the materials they need to keep designing, building, and competing.”

What to Expect at Cars & Coffee

Co-hosted by Cars & Coffee Winston-Salem, the event brings together car enthusiasts, students and community members for a family-friendly Saturday morning.
