3rd Annual Boating Safety Haunted Cove Returns to Huntersville

Halloween is heading to the waterfront this October as the Cornelius Police Department brings back its annual Boating Safety Haunted Cove for an evening of spooky fun and community activities.

The 3rd Annual Boating Safety Haunted Cove takes place Friday, October 23, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blythe Landing in Huntersville. The event is free and open to all ages, offering Lake Norman families a chance to celebrate Halloween while bringing attention to boating safety.

Haunted Attractions and Halloween Activities

This year’s event will feature a haunted boat dock and haunted house, bringing a Halloween twist to one of Lake Norman’s popular waterfront locations.

Visitors can also enjoy trunk-or-treat activities, music, candy, food and pirate ships. With activities designed for all ages, families can bring the kids in costume and enjoy an evening of Halloween entertainment by the lake.

The haunted boat dock adds a distinctive waterfront element to the celebration, combining the area’s boating culture with the traditional thrills of the Halloween season.

Bringing the Community Together Through Boating Safety

The event is presented by the Joshua Murray Boating, Safety, Education and Awareness Center in conjunction with the Cornelius Police Department and Mecklenburg County ABC Board, with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation also represented among the event partners.

While the evening focuses on Halloween festivities, the event also creates an opportunity to bring local families together around the importance of boating safety and awareness.

Now in its third year, Boating Safety Haunted Cove continues to offer a seasonal community gathering that connects Lake Norman’s waterfront identity with family-friendly Halloween activities.

The Cornelius Police Department is inviting residents throughout Cornelius, Huntersville and surrounding Lake Norman communities to attend and enjoy the festivities.
