Families around Lake Norman have access to a valuable community resource this summer as the Kids Eat Free program returns to Cornelius Elementary School. In partnership with Atrium Health Lake Norman and Cornelius Elementary, the program provides free lunches to all children ages 18 and younger through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.

Meals are served Monday through Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. through July 30. The program is open to all children 18 and under, regardless of where they attend school, helping ensure young people have access to nutritious meals while school is out for the summer.

Lunches are served rain or shine at Cornelius Elementary School, located at 21126 Catawba Avenue in Cornelius. Families should enter the cafeteria using the entrance on School Street. All meals must be eaten on site in the cafeteria, in accordance with program guidelines.

Summer meal programs like this play an important role in supporting local families by providing reliable access to healthy food during the school break. Atrium Health Lake Norman is partnering with Cornelius Elementary to help make this resource available throughout the summer months.
