A new StoryWalk is now welcoming visitors to the Hugh Torance House and Store in Huntersville, thanks to the Leadership Lake Norman Class of 2026. The community service project creates a unique experience that combines reading, local history, and outdoor exploration for families of all ages.

The project brings together literacy, history, and outdoor recreation by allowing families to enjoy a children’s story while walking the grounds of one of Lake Norman’s most historic landmarks. StoryWalks encourage readers of all ages to move from station to station, combining physical activity with the joy of reading.

The installation was a true community effort. Members of the Leadership Lake Norman class worked together to install storyboards, prepare the site, and celebrate the completed project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The finished StoryWalk is designed to enrich the visitor experience while creating a new educational attraction for local families, schools, and community groups.

Leadership Lake Norman, a program of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, brings together professionals from across the region to strengthen leadership skills while making a lasting impact through community service. Each class selects a project that addresses a local need and reflects the program’s commitment to serving the Lake Norman community.
