Mooresville Motorsports Celebration: Legends, Fast Cars & Small-Town Vibes

If you’ve ever wondered why Mooresville is nicknamed Race City, USA, here’s your chance to see it in action. On Tuesday, September 30, from 4–7 p.m., Main Street in Downtown Mooresville is turning into one big block party — NASCAR style. Think classic cars, food trucks, live music, and the kind of small-town energy that makes you glad you live here (or at least close enough to claim it). Oh, and did we mention it’s totally free?

The Main Event: Walk of Fame Inductions

The highlight of the evening is the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame “Walk of Fame” Induction Ceremony, presented by Visit Mooresville. Two NASCAR legends — Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman — are officially getting their spot on the Walk of Fame, and you’ll want to be there when it happens.

  • Greg Biffle: Two-time NASCAR champ, 56 career wins, and most recently, an actual real-life hero who flew rescue missions after Hurricane Helene last year. (Not many drivers can say they saved lives and won Daytona.)

  • Ryan Newman: Known as “Rocket Man” for his insane qualifying skills, he’s got 18 Cup Series wins, a Daytona 500 victory, and a soft spot for animal welfare and conservation when he’s not behind the wheel.

The induction ceremony starts at 5 p.m. sharp — so grab your barbecue plate and a spot on Main Street before then.

More Than Just Racing

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Lake Norman-area celebration without all the extras. Expect:

  • A classic car show lining Main Street (because who doesn’t love a good chrome-and-engine flex?)

  • A lineup of local food trucks bringing the flavor

  • Live music and race-themed fun to keep the kids entertained while you check out the cars

Why You Should Go

This isn’t just about racing — it’s about celebrating what makes Mooresville, Mooresville. The motorsports history here runs deep, and events like this remind us why NASCAR legends and everyday fans alike call this place home.

So, throw on your favorite driver’s hat, pack a few lawn chairs, and come be part of one of Downtown Mooresville’s biggest nights of the year. After all, how often do you get to cheer on two Hall of Famers while eating tacos in the middle of Main Street?
