One of the most high-profile waterfront properties on Lake Norman is getting a major revival.
The former Queens Landing site at 1459 River Highway in Mooresville will soon be home to Vitale Lakeside, a family-friendly waterfront restaurant, and Bonnie & Clyde, an upscale cocktail lounge with sweeping lake views.
Queens Landing, once known for boat tours, dining, and weddings, has been closed since summer 2023. Now, Charlotte-based Vitale Hospitality Group — led by Gennaro and Susan Vitale — is investing more than $3 million to transform the iconic location into a fresh destination for dining and nightlife on Lake Norman. A May opening is currently targeted.
Vitale Lakeside: Waterfront Dining Done Right
Vitale Lakeside will occupy the nearly 9,000-square-foot ground floor, complete with an expansive patio overlooking the water.
The menu will feature crowd-pleasing favorites: burgers made from a proprietary meat blend, steaks, pizza, seafood, and Italian-inspired dishes. Sauces — including marinara — will be made in-house, keeping the focus on quality and freshness.
But the real showstopper? The only floating bar allowed on Lake Norman.
A state-of-the-art octagonal dock will replace the outdated setup, offering 38 boat slips where guests can pull up, dock, and enjoy food and drinks right on the water. Plans also include roll-up garage doors, a dockside bar, and even a rooftop stage for live entertainment.
“Pull up on the boat. Eat, drink, have fun,” Vitale says. “You don’t have a bigger patio on the lake than what we have here.”
Bonnie & Clyde: An Elevated Nightlife Experience
Upstairs, the 6,000-square-foot Bonnie & Clyde lounge will cater to a more adult crowd.
Floor-to-ceiling windows will provide panoramic Lake Norman views, while the interior design leans luxe — velvet drapes, high-end wallpaper, granite finishes, and a dedicated DJ booth. The space will also feature a 1,500-square-foot VIP lounge and private event room.
“I think this area really needed a place for adults to come out and have a good time,” Vitale said.
With family-friendly dining downstairs and a sophisticated nightlife concept upstairs, this redevelopment aims to create a full-scale destination for locals and visitors alike.
Lake Norman has been waiting to see what would become of this landmark waterfront property. Now, it looks like the next chapter is almost here.
