Cheers to NC Beer Month: Governor Stein Celebrates North Carolina’s Craft Beer Legacy

Raise a Glass to NC Beer Month: Celebrating Craft, Community, and Carolina Pride

October just got a whole lot more festive — Governor Josh Stein has officially proclaimed October as North Carolina Beer Month, shining a well-deserved spotlight on the state’s thriving craft beer industry and its incredible impact on our economy, agriculture, and communities.

Hosted by the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild and the Office of the Governor, the signing ceremony brought together lawmakers, brewery owners, and industry leaders from across the state — all united by their love of a good pint and an even better cause.

North Carolina is home to over 400 independent craft breweries, ranking among the top 10 beer states in the nation. From small-town taprooms to destination breweries, these local gems have created more than 18,000 jobs and contributed $2.2 billion to our state’s economy.

But it’s not just about what’s in the glass. Our breweries revitalize downtowns, support local farmers, and give back to the community — including raising over $250,000 to support Western NC breweries recovering from Hurricane Helene.

This month, NC Beer Month invites residents and visitors alike to explore new brews, visit local breweries, and celebrate the craft beer spirit that defines our state. You can even earn exclusive badges and prizes through the “Drink Social” app, Untappd, or enter the NC Beer Month Sweepstakes for a chance to win a craft beer getaway in Asheville.

So whether you’re sipping on a seasonal ale at your favorite Lake Norman brewery or taking a day trip to the mountains, October is your excuse to toast to North Carolina’s independent brewers — the innovators behind every pour.
